Photodynamic skin resurfacing is an advanced skin resurfacing treatment that combines sensitization with the use of a topical medication and the application of light of a specific wavelength. Before the treatment, a special medication is applied to the skin in the form of a spray. The skin is then exposed to light of a selected wavelength, which activates the medication. This acts on skin molecules that have been altered (aged) and causes them to regenerate. At Dermoiatrika Athens, we pioneer the application of photodynamic skin resurfacing using SWT technology, for facial rejuvenation as well as for the treatment of wrinkles and photoaging.
Indications
Photodynamic rejuvenation is applied with excellent results to facial skin with photoaging. Where the skin shows fine wrinkles, large pores, dilated blood vessels and discoloration. The effects of long-term sun exposure (photoaging) are reversed with photodynamic rejuvenation. The treatment reverses photoaging by causing collagen regeneration. It fights fine wrinkles, improves skin texture and tone.
Results
The use of photodynamic resurfacing for skin rejuvenation results in the formation of new collagen and the reduction of wrinkles. The skin improves and acquires fewer pores, a smoother texture and a more youthful appearance. The treatment is repeated monthly and 3 sessions are required for optimal results.
Recovery
After the end of treatment, patients should not be exposed to sunlight or other artificial bright light for at least 48 hours.
